Caribbean-Arab Fusion Cuisine Meets Mediterranean Idyl

From 1st to 31st July 2025, the Vitznauerhof became the stage for a very special culinary experience: Azceituna, the Zurich pop-up project by Nikol Morillo and Jade Ismail, made its debut at Lake Lucerne – with a dinner concept that joyfully combined culture, community, and culinary art.

On three days a week – every Saturday to Monday – the two restaurateurs invited guests to a menu. A creative fusion of Caribbean flavours and Levantine influences was served, accompanied by refined drinks with an oriental twist.

Azceituna was more than a pop-up – it was a culinary statement that brought people and cultures together. Right by the lake, nestled in the breathtaking backdrop of Vitznau, a new sensual form of communal dining emerged.

Nikol and Jade

The Dominican top chef and MasterChef winner Nikol Morillo brought classic dishes like Pastel en Hoja or Arepitas made from cassava to the table – newly interpreted with spices and ingredients from the Middle East.

The Lebanese bartender Jade Ismail complemented the menu with exciting drinks such as the Bizcocho de Limón, a cocktail made from lemon yogurt and mezcal, refined with a hint of smoked olive oil – creamy, smoky, surprising. Or the Tabbouleh Spritz, which combines tomato water, fresh parsley, vodka, and soda, turning it into a light, herby aperitif with a Mediterranean soul.
